REPORT ON ZANZIBAR JOURNALIST INTERNET TRAINING

I was one among the 20 participants of Internet Training for Journalist of Zanzibar conducted in Zanzibar from 8 to 12 February 2010.

The training was organized by MISA Tanzania and sponsored by Finland under Finnish Foundation for Media, Communication and Development (VIKES) and the Training Consultant was Peik Johansson a Journalist from Finland.

According to MISA the main objectives of the training were to help the Journalists in Zanzibar to use internet in this Global Society to promote communication and development of the entire community in Zanzibar and the world in general.

As one of the participant of the training I have benefited much because I understand alots of things that I did not understood before, I can say that the training was very much productive to me and my fellow participants.

In the first day the Consultant Peik introduced to us the several uses of internet in the Global society and among the uses of internet are searching information, finding for facts, making research, editing, gambling and so may uses.

In the day we learned how to buy train ticket through the internet, in this interesting part we succeed to buy a ticket from Helsinki to Turku that now I am to buy a traveling ticket for a train a bus an Air traveling.

Another thing we learned at that day is how book air ticket, in this part we visited Kenya Air Way agencies website we followed procedures until we booked the ticket for traveling and we learned internet banking, it very wonderful.

A first I used to know how to search information through the internet and the training come to add my knowledge on searching information very first and effective.

In this part we were given some assignment to find certain information, I come to know that in order to get information very first and correct you have be very technical, we learned those techniques.

We learned about finding contracts of the several authorities in order proving the facts and making interviews of the source, I come to realize that as Journalists or Editors we can use Internet very effective in working areas.

In this session we discussed the continent and the countries that leading in the uses of internet. From the discussion we realized Asia is first country leading by high level of using internet followed by North America and Europe.The country leading with high number of people using internet is China followed by India and United State of America and for Africa Egypt is the first one.In the discussion on the reasons behind for one country to have high number of internet users than other many factors were addressed.The factor like economic development of the country is the main reason, the most developed countries has high level of internet uses due to economic activities.Population is another riding factor the country to have high users of internet. May be this is why China is the leader for this.Other factors like educational system and the infrastructures of the country affect the uses of internet.Internet uses for Journalists and other people is big challenge in Zanzibar that most of people do not use internet due several reasons including to economic factor.

The challenge in front me now after attending this training is to use internet in my Journalist responsibilities and to transfer the knowledge to my fellow Journalist as far as the holly community as concern.

I would like to ask MISA in cooperation with VIKES extend this program providing training to the Journalist so as to increase efficient to promote communication and information for Community development.

JERRY MURO PROCEEDING CASE

Investigative and the presenter of the Tanzania Proadicasting Cooperation TBC Jerry Muro has been accused to ask for corraption of 10 milion Tsh.

He stood before the court at Dar es Salam high court the first time to asnwer the case of attemting to ask to to recieve corraption from Machael Karoli who was the director of Bagamoyo District.

Muro's case take the concetration of alots of people in and out side Tanzanaia becourse he was influencial Journalist who receive award of Journalist.

Moro and his felloes were accused of asking corraption from that person at Sea Cliff hotel but all of them deniyed the case and the case is still in the court.

THE NESTLE BOYCOTT

The Nestle Boycott is the boycott launched in the first time in United State of America in 1977 against the swiss base nestle coopreration.

The boycott speeded through out the world very quickly to the effects of the problem of the breast to the human beings.

OBAMA CHILDHOOD

Barack Hussein Obama is first African President to hold Office as president in United State of America and he si the 44th president of USA.

Sinces it is not normal thing to hapen in the big nation like USA for African person to hold such power at list in short let to explain his childhood.

Obama was born in August 4 1961 at Nyang'oma Kogelo in Kenya and he is the first president to have been born out of America.

Obama parents met at Russia for the first timme in 1960 at the unuversity of Hawaii where by his father was foreign student in Russia.

February 2 1961 Obama was born while he had years his perrent divoced when he was two years old.

Obama turned to visit Kenya in 1971 but he go back in America to live with his grandparents and he startd prrparatory school and he graduate in 1979.

In his childhood Obama heared to say that "My fater look for me nothing like the people around me"

He strugle as a young adult to ap servive this show thata his parent did not take care after him.

In his childhood Obama lived as street children serfering here and there without parental care.

Ombama grow in hard life but he is successeful man when he selected as Director of Developing Communities Project in Chicago.

Obama hold alots of position befor he become the President of the big country of USA.

Although there are alots of things to explain about the childhood of him the above I thing will help those who like to the childhood of Obama.

e Green Belt Movement is the in the of the most prominent women civial sociaty organization which based in Kenya.The main functions of this organization is to advocates human righs and supporting good gernance,peace and democratic change throgh the protection of the inviroment.Maathai

The founder of this organizationis Mwanagari Maathai the great movement woman and the winner Nobel Peace Price 2004.

The mission is to support countries to recieve culture of peace.
Magari ya Honda pia kurejeshwa

Katika pigo lingine kubwa kwa kampuni za magari nchini Japan ,kampuni ya Honda imesema inaagiza kurejeshwa kwa takriban magari 4,000 kutoka nchini Marekani kutokana na hitilafu za kiufundi.
Habari hizo zimetolewa muda mfupi baada ya kampuni kubwa zaidi ya magari duniani Toyota, kutangaza kuwa itaagiza kurejeshwa kwa magari aina ya Prius kutokana na hitilafu kama hizo.

Kampuni ya Honda imesema inachukua hatua hiyo kutokana na hitilafu katika mifuko ya hewa inayozuia maumivu wakati wa ajali.BCC-Swahili

Hitilafu hiyo imehusishwa na ajali kumi na mbili nchini Marekani. Idadi kubwa ya magari yaliyoathiriwa yako nchini humo.

Wizara ya biashara ilitangaza Ijumaa inaweka ushuru baada ya uchunguzi kubaini kuwa bidhaa za kuku zilikuwa zinauzwa kwa gharama ndogo isivyostahili, ambayo imeumiza wazalishaji wa ndani.

China inasema kodi hiyo itaanza Februari 13.VOICE OF AMERICA Makampuni ambayo walikata rufaa kuhusu suala hilo ikiwemo kiwanda kimoja cha mifugo cha Marekani cha Tyson Foods, watalipa ushuru kati ya asilimia 43 na 80. Wale ambao hawakukata rufaa watalipa ushuru wa asilimia 105.4.

Ushuru huo upo kwenye bidhaa mbali mbali ikiwemo miguu ya kuku, ambayo sio maarufu sana kwa wanunuzi wa Marekani, lakini ni maarufu huko China. China na Marekani wamekuwa kwenye mlolongo wa mivutano ya kibiashara katika miaka ya karibuni.

China ilianzisha uchunguzi wake juu ya uingizaji kuku wa Marekani mwezi Septemba, baada ya utawala wa Obama kuongeza kodi ya matairi yanayotengenezwa nchini China. Beijing pia imekasirishwa na mkataba wa karibuni wa silaha unaogharimu dola bilioni 6.4, kati ya Washington na Taiwan, kisiwa kinachojitawala ambapo China inakiona kama sehemu ya eneo lake na azma ya Rais wa Marekani Barack Obama kufanya mazungumzo na Dalai Lama, kiongozi wa kidini wa Tibet anayeishi uhamishoni.

The Media Institute of Southern Africa [MISA] is a non-governmental organisation with members in 11 of the Southern Africa Development Community [SADC] countries. Officially launched in September 1992, MISA focuses primarily on the need to promote free, independent and pluralistic media, as envisaged in the 1991 Windhoek Declaration.



MISA seeks ways in which to promote the free flow of information and co-operation between media workers, as a principal means of nurturing democracy and human rights in Africa. The role of the MISA is primarily one of a coordinator, facilitator and communicator, and for this reason MISA aims to work together with all like-minded organisations and individuals to achieve a genuinely free and pluralistic media in southern Africa.



Mission



The mission of MISA is to play a leading role in creating an environment of media freedom and free expression that promotes independence, pluralism and diversity of views and opinions, media sustainability, competency and professionalism in the southern African region. In dealing with these elements, MISA will ensure that gender-specific needs form an integral part of all its activities. MISA aims to create an environment in which civil society is empowered to claim information and access to it as unalienable rights and in which the resultant freer information flow strengthens democracy by enabling more informed citizen participation.



The objective of MISA is to lobby for promotion and protection of media freedom and free expression. It is also to strengthen and support the development of a vibrant, professional and participatory media sector as an essential part of the deepening of democracy in southern Africa.



MISA-TANZANIA



MISA-Tanzania (MISA-TAN) is one of the MISA chapters established in 1996 as a non-governmental organization (NGO) under societies ordinance, 1954 with the major objective to promote a free, independent and pluralistic press in Tanzania .



The role of MISA-Tanzania is primarily one of a coordinator, facilitator and communicator, and for this reason MISA-TAN aims to work together with all like-minded organisations and individuals to achieve a genuinely free and pluralistic media in Tanzania .

WHAT WE LEARNED IN INTERNET TRAINING

In the training of internet uses for Journalist in Zanzibar in the first day we learned about the important of internet.

In the training we learned the uses of internet in the global societies come to know that internet has so may uses, includes searching information and facts.

Communication, publication and gambling are among other main uses of internet in the global societies. On that part we discussed so many other uses of internet in the global development societies.

Apart from that we learned how to buy train ticket through the internet, in this interesting part we succeed to buy a ticket from Helsinki to Turku.

Another thing we learned yesterday is how book air ticket, in this part we visited Kenya Air Way agencies website we followed procedures until we booked the ticket for traveling.

We learned internet banking from that part we got an introduction of on how we can operate internet banking.

After that we learned searching and editing materials in the internet, in this part we really benefited much.

That was the first day; today we proceed leaning other important things on the uses of internet among them was world internet uses.

From that we visited News agencies and their website. We came to know that News agencies are many and they doing good work in providing information.

We have visited BBC, Aljazira, DW, Voice of America and so many other agencies.

We opened internal and external news papers and we have insisted trainer to visit them and reading.

There so many things to explain that we learned may be it is enough what I have explained. Generally the training is fantastic
